Which Keyboard Is Right for Oriental & Kurdish Music?

If you play at Kurdish weddings, Arabic gatherings or at home with family, a normal international keyboard feels half-finished: the maqam notes sit between the keys, and the built-in rhythms never quite match a real oriental ensemble.

Oriental arranger keyboards solve both problems. They carry quarter-tone tuning so you can play true maqams, and their style engines are built around oriental percussion, strings and ensemble sounds. Everything below is on our showroom floor in Ankawa — come and play them side by side before you decide.

The oriental specialists

How they compare

Yamaha PSR-A5000 — the current flagship of Yamaha's oriental line. A 7-inch touchscreen, a deep set of oriental styles and a full quarter-tone scale system. If the keyboard is your main instrument and you perform regularly, start here.

Yamaha PSR-A3000 — the previous-generation oriental arranger that still earns its place. Middle-Eastern voices and styles with dedicated scale-tuning buttons on the panel, which is faster than menus when you switch maqams live.

KORG PA4X — KORG's flagship professional arranger, respected for its sound engine and its huge oriental style libraries. The choice of many stage professionals.

KORG PA600 — 61 keys, oriental styles, a 7-inch touchscreen and built-in speakers. It covers most oriental work at a friendlier price, and because it has its own speakers you can use it immediately without an amp.

On a tight budget?

Not every player needs a full arranger. For learning, home practice or children starting out, a simple portable keyboard is enough to begin — and you can always move up later.

Come and try them

Keyboards are personal — the same model that feels perfect to one player feels wrong to the next. Visit our showroom in Ankawa, bring a song you know, and play all of them. We'll set each one up for you, and if you need a package with speakers, a stand and a bench we'll quote it on the spot.
