Build a Home Studio: The 5 Things You Actually Need

You do not need thousands of dollars to record at home. You need five things, chosen well, and the patience to learn them. This is the same list we give singers, podcasters and producers who walk into our Ankawa showroom.

1. An audio interface

This is the heart of the studio — it turns your microphone and guitar into clean digital signal for the computer. Start with two inputs; step up when you record more than one person at a time.

2. Studio monitors — not computer speakers

Monitors show you the truth about your mix, including the parts that are wrong. For a bedroom or small room, one pair of near-field monitors is enough.

3. One honest microphone

Ignore the myth that you need many mics. One reliable workhorse covers vocals, podcasts and voice-over — and the same microphone you use at home also works on stage later.

4. The small things that save recordings

A proper boom arm keeps handling noise off the desk and the mic exactly where it should be. Add a pop filter and decent closed headphones and your recordings instantly sound more professional.

5. Software — free is fine to start

Every interface above ships with recording software to get you started, and free DAWs are genuinely capable now. Learn one program deeply before buying anything else.

Starter packages

Tell us your budget and what you record — vocals, guitar, podcast, beats — and we'll assemble the package around it. Everything can be collected from the showroom or delivered across Iraq, and we'll help you get the first recording done the same day if you bring your laptop in.

Questions? Ask the showroom.

We're in Ankawa, open every day 11 AM — 11 PM. Call us, message us on WhatsApp, or just walk in and try the gear.
